Fees for legal services in Germany, including conducting cases in court, are fixed by German law and not by the legal profession or by individual lawyers if not agreed otherwise.

The law office's charges for litigation work are based on the German Statutory Law on Fees for practising lawyers (Rechtsanwaltsverguetungsgesetz - RVG). The calculation basis ist the overall value of the case. If the communication is held in English, costs for translations of documents will only be added if a comprehensive explanation of the contents is impossible or inappropriate; sometimes every single word is relevant and therefore the documents should be translated word by word. The necessary translation costs for the major documents only in case of a trial will be refunded by the loosing party.

Please feel free to enquire the approximate fees that will arise in your case. In most cases the party that looses a trial will have to reimburse the legal fees of the winning party, limited to the amount of the RVG-fees.
